this is the much acclaimed Swedish original, of the U.S Let Me In. Frankly, I prefer the remake, although the content is virually the same, but it has to be said that the two child actors here are absolutely fantastic, producing performances any mature actor would be proud of. I do feel that the remake makes it more clear that the vampire's adult protector was once the child that Oskar is now, which changes the 'love story' aspect of the film dramatically - is Eli just seducing her next human protector, or does she really care about him? Whichever, the film has a great deal to say about childhood. A chilling tale, then, and very different from your usual vampire flick. This one really makes you think and whether you love it or hate it in the end, it's well worth your time. 4 1/2 out of 5
