This show has a phenomenal first series, ok second series, and a terrible third. The pacing of the show as well as plots and character arcs have suffered greatly. It has become very unrealistic. I was so invested in the characters at the beginning and now I couldn't really care less about what happens to anyone. btw...Mary's son's name is George (not Matthew) perhaps after King George V?

@Hearybear, I think the season is going to open with the spinster sister taking care of the 2 infant children and Mary beeing a widow shut in crying in her bed for the past few months. But I really hope Mary is in a coma after her bumpy visit the the highlands and dreamed the whole dead matthew thing (of course he will be played by a new actor) and all will go as we want it to go....o wait I think i'm dreaming hahaaha!

After Matthew dies they are going to start a few years later and the more i think about it the more im sure the first episode is going to start like this:Mary's voice calling '' MATTHEW COME HERE'' and a little 2 or 3 year old blond boy running happily towards her ... what do you think ? tell me your version of the start of season 4 ... :) -

Episode 8 is not the last episode. There will in all likelihood be a behind the scenes special in late December and soon after there absolutely is a 2-hour Christmas Finale to Series 3 on the 25th of Dec. Someone should add two episodes to the list...
Last year the behind the scenes special drew about a 1/3 of what a new episode could, but that was still about a 4.5 share which was a large number. Seeing how production costs for these things are minimal it would be bad business not to have another one and cash in big time with no new content. They do provide a rehashing and recalibration for the journey the season has traveled so people do tune in. -
