So the writers went from suguar to shit i mean really like 2 and a half seasons was nothing but morgana losing and then they kill everyone in the last episode plus i though that gwen and merlin were going to be together when i first started watching

re-watched .. and again still upset.. so many things could have happened and it just ended that way .. was so rushed :( i don't get it.. they have a lot of fan's its wrong on so many levels ;( will never understand why they rushed such an awesome show. I'll miss it a lot :c

i think merlin came back to avalon after many years thats why he looked old. and if merlin had not saved the dragons egg a while back, arthur still would be alive,because he was killed by the sword by that dragon and could not heal.

@StinkyKush ok to answer one question about the dragon is because merlin already called for him but he couldnt bcause he was dying from old age if u listen to the dragon talk i think it was the 2nd last or maybe the last ep or something he even told him he was getting to old and it was his time. and also y he turned into the old merlin is cause he didnt wanna be seen by others mainly Arthur as merlin, he wanted to keep in behind closed doors until the right moment

I finished watching the entire series last night. Last night I dream about the final episode all night. What happened to the baby dragon? Was Merlin able to help Camelot with his magic afterwards? So many interrogates... Would have been wonderful to see Merlin in a great battle with Morgana using magic. I'm depressed.

I dont understand why so many people are surprised that Arthur dies. It's what happens in the legend! Im very sad to see the show go (especially since i found out about it after it was over), but it was bound to happen. I thought the ending was very touching and was a good way for Arthur to find out about Merlin.

I really wanted to see Morgana redeemed. I loved her character development and it just ended so lame. -
lol wtf was that ending with Merlin still alive in modern times?? But on the plus side he finally got new clothes. The battle between Mordred and Arthur that they lead up to for so long in the series was so lame and lasted 10 seconds, and I don't see why Merlin had to transform into old Merlin when he killed everyone, or why he didn't summon the dragon to carry arthur lol. Also Gwaines death was so unnecessary. Also I was hoping to see an epic Morgana vs Merlin battle (the only magic they ever use is pushing people, and merlin used lightning finally) if it was that easy to kill her why didn't they just kill her a long time ago.. I thought Arthur was going to tell Merlin he loved him at the end, lol!

I personally think that the movie trilogy should be the first one as a reboot of everything that happened before the series, like when Merlin was born and his childhood etc. I would also love to see Camelot when magic was legal before Uther took over and I would also love to see the period of the Great Purge, like rounding up the dragon lords and dragons to kill them etc.

I think the second and third should be a continuation from s05e13. Camelot with magic legalized once more and the "rise" of Arthur with Merlin/Emrys by his side building Ablion together, as Kilgharrah has always spoken about. It would also be amazing if there was an Arthur Jr. with Merlin being the god father, epic.
@SarionLT I totally agree with the fact that if they do end up making a trilogy, it should still be set in Medieval times and not Modern, that would ruin the whole background of the Merlin we've been watching. -
So firstly the fact he went to the battle still disguised made absolutely no sense of any kind, this was the final battle with Morgana to save Camelot and he somehow still has the aging potion on him?! What's more bizarre is that his father even said when he leaves the Crystal Cave he'll finally find himself, and he goes on continuing to hide? Absurd! Here we have the first crime of this finale.

Secondly yes, as everyone has noted the major flaw is he doesn't summon the dragon to help carry Arthur to Avalon. I wish I found some logical explanation for this but in the end it makes completely no sense for him NOT to have gotten the Dragons aid. Why exactly wouldn't the Dragon want to help fore it was he guiding Merlin to try and protect Camelot and Arthur! What is even more sickening to me is that we all know the Dragon numerous times warned Merlin that Arthur must live and the future of Camelot is with him. He clearly states this over an over while warning Merlin to kill Morgana, then Mordred, to name a few. Merlin ignores it all because he's stupid, the Dragon is how old? He's older than any human that ever lived! There is absolutely no way the Dragon wouldn't have been at the battle watching it either, that is all he wanted for Arthur to make magic legal again.
OMG I can continue onward into eternity, how about this.........
So this Dragon flies them to the edge of Avalon? Why exactly? Just fly to the damn island you're a magical creature there's no reason or sense to stopping midway, ahahaha. And this nonsense about the Dragon telling him Arthur was always meant to die? Absurd! The dragon directly contracted himself from earlier episodes saying Arthur was meant to become the once and future king and bring magic back to the land, how can he do that now that he's dead, answer is he can't. No he didn't bring magic back by the time of his death, and neither did Merlin just because he used lightening at the battle do you think everyone was looking up in the sky to see what was happening when they had blades at their backs? No. Merlin doesn't bring and make magic acceptable now just because of one battle, if anything people will just fear it more because Morgana used it and some weirdo person appears killing. No one knew who helped them so why would they accept magic now?
Gwen sure wasn't to upset after her husband dies, neither were any of the knights either, did you see them standing in the hall pronouncing their Kings death? STUPID. At most Arthur lived how long after his fathers demise? Not very long if you ask me! AHAHAH Dad may have been right then huh? One thing I found amusing was Merlin not telling Arthur (he had no chance too!) that he killed his father accidentally, this would've made the ending more believable IMO because now Arthur dies without knowing the full story.
Continuing onward we have Morgana still possessing the brainworm thing that infects the knight and gives her the info to track down Merlin/Arthur. But even so the Dragon could've just taken them to the fucking island from the get-go. Or for that matter torched the entire Army before it reached Camelot's soldiers. The Dragon even tells Merlin he's old and will soon die, why not aid Camelot instead of dying elsewhere?
All indications from the very beginning of the series are that this Dragon believes Arthur must survive, not die in some pointless battle that would never have happened had they stayed in Camelot's castle. With the Dragon broiling people outside it's walls the battle would quickly end, ahahha. I mean holy christ mother of god they end it in such a simple minded manner as to make me sick. I have 10x better endings than theirs!
Also if Merlin is the most powerful sorcerer to live, can't he prolong Arthurs life by doing SOMETHING, ANYTHING? Guess not!
In all the series was pointless, Arthur dies, Gwen gets the thrown (and I suspect she's still possessed by the darkness and is evil) and Morgana dies which would've happened if Merlin had actually listened to the Dragon from the beginning. But aside from that fact Merlin forgets to summon the Dragon to help save Arthur which was wholly what it wanted to do from the very start of the series, keep him safe so Merlin and he could bring magic back to Camelot. But no sir they won't be doing that now because the Dragon is obviously dead (killed off in the film Reign of Fire) and Merlin is an old man with tattered clothes because why? He served only Arthur? Sorry but he actually has to do something useful with his time apart from that now that he's dead and Camelot is gone!
Merlin would not continue roaming around aimlessly for no reason when Arthur was dead, especially not for thousands of years or whatever it's been at the end. Anyways I can think of more shit to say but wow what a wasted series, it's worse than Quantum Leaps ending and that crap wasn't even given time to rewrite, they just cut up the finale there to make an alien into god (read more on Google about how it was going to lead to another season in Space).
Well I'm done, hopefully this brings out some people with useful comments, the ending was rushed and not thought out + absurdly done. I am not sure if the writers or whomever were vindictive towards their audience since the show was being cancelled or what, sure seems like they wrote it to get some revenge by providing us a bad ending. -
I seriously and totally respect the choice of the writers to end Merlin as it is (either way they were planning on it since the start so its not really news or reason to cry over). I remember when I first started watching it. It was actually by accident but I'm so glad I stumbled upon the show. Each and every writer, producer, director, actor, extra, make artist, camera man (or woman) etc has truly played their part extremely well throughout the series. Merlin will be missed by many! I'm just thankful to be apart of its fan base and witness with my own eyes this magnificent series. Long live Merlin! :) Merry Christmas everyone!

I'll miss Merlin, but if ever they're going to make a movie or another season out of it, I just wish it's still in Medieval times, Modern setting is a bit boring, but I'll still watch.. :) Is there other series like Merlin? :| I'll Miss Merlin Very Much! and Colin Morgan & Bradley James! :((((

BBC ended there contract with the series, but far as I have read SyFy is picking the show up and continuing the series from were it has left off. January 4th is what I have been informed that it will begin of season 5. Can't wait too see how it turns out; how well SyFy does.

has everyone seen brolin (bradley and colin) singing 'your the voice' by john farnam on youtube? its so funny, they are the cutest. also arthur better not die like in the legend. i reckon they will leave it open ended, like a mysterious ending where they assume morgana or modred is dead but they actually arent! agreed 'krizelle'! oh and also 'the_real_monk' back in those times all the women had to wear dresses that pushed up their cleavage so the women actresses have to on the show, which is probably why it looks like everyone has huge cleavage haha (: oh and guys arthurs bane is that hes destined to fall- and when they say that he is his own bane, they mean that he brings his 'bane' on himself by making a mistake, which in turn leads to modred wanting to kill arthur.. which is actually what happened in the old stories or myths about it. but hopefully like i said above, that wont happen and it will end sort of open ended but still happily and MERLIN WILL FREAKING TELL ARTHUR THAT HE HAS MAGIC AND ARTHUR WILL ACCEPT HIM FOR WHAT HE IS. because he should. they are best friends and merlin has saved him so many times. they trust each other with their lives.

There's so much more they can do like Arthur/Merlin being cursed to be a woman, Merlin and Arthur changing souls or Gwen and Merlin changing souls/body, Gwen and Arthur having kids, More exposure for Dragoon/Emrys the old guy, Arthur understanding that Merlin has Magic, Merlin changing his outfit, Morgana only being 'mandrake tortured' by her sister so she can still be saved, dragons appearing a lot and etc..

Hmmm I don´t suppose they´d kill Arthur at the end because the directors were like everyone is gonna be satisfied with the end and stuff so I doubt they´d kill him..... I guess it´d end with Arthur winning the final battle and Mordred and Morgana might flee leaving Arthur and the rest to think them dead leaving the story open ended and mysterious.... Else Arthur just dies like in the legend and Merlin sends him off in the barge as he did Freya and Lancelot which would be heartbreaking.... 3 more episodes to go.....!!!! I dont want it to end......!!!!!!!
