- Summary:The documentary cameras follow Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) a mid-level bureaucrat in the Parks and Recreation Department of Pawnee, Indiana. In an attempt to beautify her town -- and advance her career -- Leslie takes on what should be a fairly simple project: help local nurse Ann Perkins (Rashida Jones) turn an abandoned construction pit into a community park. Opposing them are defensive bureaucrats, selfish neighbors, real estate developers, and single-issue fanatics -- whose weapons are lawsuits, the jumble of city codes, and the very democratic process that Leslie loves so much. Leslie is alternately helped and undermined by her colleague, Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari), who cheerfully exploits his government position for personal gain. She is also thwarted by her boss Ron Swanson, who is philosophically opposed to government in any form. Helping Leslie and Ann navigate the Pawnee bureaucracy is charismatic city planner Mark Brendanawicz, whose outlook has been soured by 15 years of public service. If they can pull it off, Leslie hopes that she also will have inspired her uninterested college intern April (Aubrey Plaza) and April's whole generation - all the while moving one step closer to her ultimate goal: becoming the first female president of the United States. I love this show! It definitely fills that void left by the office. It also helps that the characters are very likable and funny. There just seems to be great overall chemistry between the actors. This has literally become one of my favorite show!

What a great show! And so undeservedly underrated! Everyone raves about 30 Rock, but it's nowhere near as funny and it's characters aren't nearly as interesting and original.

My favorite is Chris. He is "literally amazing" hahaha But of course Leslie and Ron are awesome too. And Ann and Ben. They should have more of Donna, what she does with her eyes alone is funny as hell. Don't like Tom and Andy and his girlfriend at all. -

This show is super funny. It's a little bit like The Office (which is my fav) but it definitely has it's own kind of funny. I started watching from the beginning and it just gets better with each episode. So if you aren't captured by the Pilot, don't give up on it. It's a great show.

If you liked "The Office" you will like P&R, they have a very similar vibe. Ron Swanson is a classic character, he makes the show IMO.

which is the season/episode where Leslie says, "Its better, or is it just the same? --am I saying everything I'm thinking? i don't know"... something like that. Its the funniest episode...just don't know which one :/

Dear God, this show is so unbelievably, absolutely, utterly and, completely brilliant. Seriously, I LOVE this show. Just LOVE it. One of the best shows to come out in awhile. So god damned hilarious!
