I really love this show. A lot of people compare it to Game of Thrones, and it's true that both shows have their similarities, but I think that they both excel in their own right, and in different ways.

One of the main differences between the two shows is that, in Game of Thrones, there are so many great characters, locations and storylines, that an hour-long episode is not enough and a ten-episode season seems almost cruel. With this show, however, there is a relatively smaller main cast, and established time frame, which allows for adequate pacing of character arcs and employs the ten-episode season effectively.
The great, stretching and fascinating-to-watch arc of The Borgias is Cesare. He starts the show as a cleric and soon becomes a Cardinal, all the while eager, almost desperate, to win his father's approval, and don armor instead of a Cardinal's robes. His downward spiral and overall transformation during his quest are fascinating to watch week-to-week.
I don't think even Cesare himself knew the kind a dark road he would have to walk in order to achieve what he wanted. He has broken so many taboos, barriers and moral standards along the way, I do not think he could ever return to normalcy, even if he wanted to. He tells himself that all his accomplishments have been worth it. How long he will continue to tell himself that, I can't say, but he doesn't believe it. There is an evident self-hatred to the character, and it bubbles closer to the surface each week.
I know that things do not end well for Cesare (or any of the Borgias, for that matter, according to history), but I think he is a fascinating historical figure, and François Arnaud plays him as a complicated, engaging TV character.
I've heard recently that there is not likely be a fourth season of the show, that they will finish up with a 2-hour TV movie instead. I really hope this isn't true, because I feel like the show really deserves a chance to wrap the Borgia history up effectively. A four-season series was the original plan, after all.
If you just got here, I would highly recommend the show. If you came this far for it, you'll probably like it. Even if you only came in the wake of GOT ;) -
@KiraAurora ......You said: "Oh, and Cesare! (I still can't believe it's spelled like that, it doesn't make much sense to me)"

If you take a look at the history of language, you would see that over the centuries and even decades that it is constantly evolving. That, and words in different countries are spelled and pronounced in a variety of ways that differ greatly than American language, pronunciation and spelling. ;) -
Watch Da Vinci's Demons if you like The Borgias. It has alot of promise.

@Emaneria I think they were available on online on certain sites and reinstalled in putlocker and vidbull or various others ?

Can somebody explain to me why are the episodes available before they actually air on tv ? I'm about to watch the 3rd episode and the second one has not even aired yet. Not that I'm complaining, on the contrary, but I'm just curious.

Love this show so much

This is easily one of the 'Big Guns'... this, GoT, and Vikings... the best shows ever. One thing I don't understand - seriouslyv- why the FUCK is this airing at the exact same time as GoT?? I mean, are they wanting the ratings to suffer or are they just plain dumbasses? I hope so hard this doesn't get cancelled because the 'ratings' aren't good enough, when really, they should plan and organize their shit a lot better. I mean, I would be totally torn if I had to chose between these two on an actual TV. As it turns out, neither of these shows airs on free tv, so I have no choice but to watch online... WHY don't they start counting online ratings? then both shows would reflect accurately their HUGE fan bases. Dumbasses.

OMG i couldn't agree more. This really is a great show and i love the aesthetic, plotting, fighting and... well you know. Oh, and Cesare! (I still can't believe it's spelled like that, it doesn't make much sense to me). Of cause nothing can ever be compared to the game of thrones (!!!) but this will definitely suffice to numb the frustrations while waiting for GOT.

Sum of your links starting from episode 6 r not working ! -
They made a little mistake in episode 1-3. The son of the Pope was telling his sister that their poisoned friend died of "swamp fever" (malaria). And she said a mosquito then?
Actually mankind did not know that mosquitoes carried malaria until after the Americans started building the Panama canal in the early part of the 1900s. -
Pissed I have to wait yet another week. I hate when shows have a break toward the end of a season.

actually this isn't the show i was thinking of at all. i watched Borgia (also known as Borgia: Faith and Fear) on netflix and it's the is a French-German historical drama television series. season 2 will be filmed this year. can't wait for that. tried viewing the first epi of season 2. nothing's the same and i can tell from the season 1 preview that Borgia is better. i thought with the racy sex scenes showing everything of man and woman that this show had to be European. guess i'll catch up on this one this weekend.
